The Open Championship
With The 149th Open Championship returning to Royal St. Georges in 2021, Mastercard is offering the chance for golf fanatics to travel to the course to watch the action, virtually. Even better, they can tee off themselves – no professional golfing experience required!
This year, the R&A and Mastercard are proud to announce the return of the eOpen, a fully virtual tournament on WGT by Topgolf. On this free platform, all holes of the legendary course will be re-created digitally, with players from the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Norway, Ireland, The Netherlands, and South Korea able to compete to become the Champion Golfer of the Year.
This unique event will take place over the course of six weeks – with the qualifying rounds commencing on Monday, July 12th. From there, 32 top-scoring players from around the world will advance to the playoffs before a champion golfer is declared at the live-streamed Finals.
There are more than just bragging rights on the line, however – the winner will get to travel to St. Andrews, in person for an all-expenses trip to the Open in 2022.
